Szymon Marciniak is recognized as one of major young masters on his instrument. He has performed as a recitalist and soloist in most European countries as well as in Canada and the United States.
His debut double solo CD of Sonatas and Miniatures by Adolf Mišek (1875-1955) was released in 2012 and warmly received by the international press and was reviewed in magazines such as Fanfare and The Strad.
Szymon's wide range of musical interests enables him to perform repertoire from Baroque to Contemporary music in variety of different settings and combinations.
In June 2013 Szymon successfully debuted in the United States with a recital at the International ISB Convention at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester NY. On 9th March 2014 he performed a recital with pianist Evan Mitchell at the international TCU Double Bass Festival in Fort Worth, Texas. The recital has been broadcast live worldwide on YouTube.
Between 2007 and 2013 Szymon served as principal bass for the Residentie Orkest Den Haag (The Hague Philharmonic Orchestra).
He is also frequently invited as guest principal bass for internationally renowned orchestras and ensembles such as The Philharmonia, BBC Orchestra of Wales, BBC Philharmonic Manchester, Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Amsterdam Sinfonietta, Münchener Kammerorchester, Ensemble Modern and Spira Mirabillis.
He is a member of the New European Ensemble, a group of young musicians specialising in contemporary and 20th century music. In the autumn of 2013 he joined the Bass Monsters, an international bass quartet performing rock and pop, combining elements of classical playing technique with modern sound technology.
Szymon has given a number of Masterclasses in Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Denmark). From 2011 until 2013 he taught double bass at the Prins Claus Conservatory in Groningen(Netherlands).
